The Way To Her Heart – A Q&A with Sarah Lian
You may recognise Sarah on magazine covers and billboards all over the map but I’m proud to say this lady is Canadian at heart. When she’s not on set or modeling, she’s just one of us. In this 5 minute interview, she gives us the scoop on her dating life. Enjoy!
Q: So you probably travel a lot for your job, is it hard to schedule dating into your life?
It hasn’t been too difficult scheduling a few dates here and there but it is tough for any serious relationship to materialize because after a couple of months, I’m headed to another part of the world.
Q: What are top 3 things you’ve learned from being single?
-Never date because of boredom. You end up lowering your standards and it’s never worth it.
-Never go for the sales pitch. So many guys talk themselves up but the sales pitch is usually compensation for what is lacking.
-Always be honest about where you are in your life. No one likes to feel duped on either side and lying to yourself is going to create a hole that becomes harder to get out of, in time.
Q: What do you look for in a man?
I look for honesty, confidence and one that can’t take himself too seriously.
Q: What’s the best date someone has taken you on?
The best ones are simple dinners or drinks that neither of us want to end and the next day you just can’t wait to see them again. Those are the best!
Q: What’s different about dating in your 20s vs 30s?
I think it’s not so much of dating but more about priorities when it comes to differences in my 20s or 30s. In my 20s it was very much about the “go with the flow” and if it didn’t go with my flow, I just dropped out of relationships without much remorse. Now that I’m 30, I have a clearer vision of where my life is headed, where I want to live and how my next 10 years will probably look like. So its a matter of “is he worth it” to challenge my new perspective or will I go with his flow instead?
Q: How can a man win his way to your heart?
Most important aspect is probably to feel a sense of security and trust with him. Then if I have the assurance that he’ll always be there to support me, challenge me and love me!

Popularly acclaimed in various platforms of film, television, radio, and new media, her high energy and dedication to work has yielded a colourful body of work. Her acting credits include XIII, Cybergeddon and American Pie 6: Beta House with a couple films that will be making the festival circuit this year. She has hosted programs on ESPN Star Sports and other local channels in Malaysia.
