5 Universally Flattering Lippies
For someone who lives and breathes the beauty world all day, I am particularly picky when it comes to lippies. For one, I hate lipglosses – both the stickiness of it and the way your hair falls onto your lips when the wind blows. The men I’ve spoken to also hate it too for the same reasons. I have a stellar collection of lip balms and lip tints but these have been my favourite of late.
1. Covergirl Smoochies in Sweet Tweet – A moisturising lip balm with just a hint of colour. What I love best is its berry bubble gum scent, all very nostalgic of the days when I collected Lip Smackers lip balms. It is very sheer in colour and so if you’re looking for a pop of colour, opt for darker shades. There are 12 shades in all.
2. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus $14.95 – This moisturising lip balm is the perfect shade of pink. For a lippie that is 100% natural, I was pleasantly surprised by the colour it gives. Wear it alone to nourish lips or layer with lipstick a bold pop of colour. This one is always in my bag.
3. MaxFactor Magic Elixir in Passionate Red – I’ve always been averse to lip pencils, most I’ve tried have just dried my lips but not this one. If you’re a fan of red lipstick, this one is for you. Glides on smooth, the pencil almost has a buttery texture. I love this and would consider buying it in other shades.
4. Rosebud Salve $12.95- This cult classic is very sheer in colour but I love it for it’s multi-purpose functionality. Depending on your lip colour, it gives a sheer hint of pink for that no make up, au-naturel look.
5. Korres Cherry Lip Gloss in Beige Pink $16.50- I’m no fan of lip gloss but this lippie is like a lipstick, lip gloss hybrid. It has the subtle shine factor of a lipgloss but the texture of a lip balm. It’s also a great shade of nude for layering.
