10 Ways to Tell The Guy You Are Dating That You Don’t Want Children

So you have decided that this is the life time you are not going to be a mother. It is hard enough trying to have this conversation with your parents and random strangers; let alone some guy you might have the possibility of spending the rest of your life with.
You are one of those women…you know the ones. You decided that birthing and raising a human is not for you but you would still like a lovely husband or at least a cute dude to spend a couple of years with.
If you, like me, are twenty-eight you are in a somewhat grey area. You are young enough that you can still easily plan for kids but old enough that by the time you marry the dude currently sitting across from you at the restaurant, you will be roughly still dating at thirty-two and it’s time to have the babies.
So here are ten ways to tell this good man that motherhood is not in your life plan.
1.Order something that contains eggs and make a joke about not ever needing to use your own
2.When he mentions children make a truly obnoxious vomiting noise and run to the bathroom
3.Hope he brings up the topic of books and slip in Elizabeth Gilbert’s quote on women who were born to just be aunties
4.Even better show pictures of your nieces and imply they will be the only children in your life
5. Lie and say you don’t have a uterus
6. Share a post about the benefits of being a childless couple and tag him in it
7. Suddenly bring up the topic of your role models Oprah Winfrey, Katherine Hepburn and Carrie Bradshaw and state it’s because they never let pesky kids get in the way of their career
8. Highlight the benefits of being able to travel without small children
9. Roll your eyes every time he mentions the word family. This isn’t ideal though as he could just assume you don’t enjoy the company of your parents.
10. Finally, grow a pair and sincerely tell him that while kids are perfectly fine for other women to have and cherish and nurture and raise; that for you it is not something you want and that there is nothing wrong with that.
In case you are in the process of doing six you should know that ten is your only option. I mean if you aren’t providing him with a new generation of Pauls’, Julian’s’ or Felix’s’, you could at least be honest. There are definitely men out there who would be happy with a wife and maybe a small dog, right? Hello…anybody…someone?
