Man Friendly Lipsticks

One thing I hear my guy friends and partner complain about the most is lipstick. They hate the stickiness and texture of it. Lately I’ve been introduced to some amazing lipsticks and since it’s been awhile since I’ve done a beauty post, I’ve put them to the test using C as a guinea pig. =) Here they are in no particular order.

Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Blush Basin

I’ve been a big fan of Burt’s Bees ever since I tried their tinted lip balms. These newly launched lipsticks are even better than the tinted lip balms. They are pigmented, moisturising and long lasting. Blush Basin is an every day pink and flattering for most skin types.

BURT’S BEES LIPSTICK IN SUEDE SPLASH

I was a little hesitant about this shade at first, it looked really dark. When applied, it’s a nice every day taupe. This is Suede Splash.

Comments from a dude: “This is like the other Burt’s Bees lipstick…except darker. I don’t mind it. Anything that’s not sticky is a plus for me. I don’t like darker lipsticks (not a lot of men do actually)…but this one is alright”.

ILIA LIPSTICK

I picked this one up from Mecca cosmetica. It’s a vegan brand and as you can see, I’ve already used quite a bit. It’s the perfect nude lipstick for my Asian olive skin. I also love that it’s very matte and stays on even after a meal. You’ll need to apply lip balm under this but the formula isn’t particularly drying.

MAC LIPSTICK SWEET & SOUR

I don’t buy MAC lipsticks much anymore but I had enough old MAC containers to exchange for a new lipstick. I loved the swatches I saw online but think this shade is much more suited to those with fair skin and red hair.

Comments from a dude: “I think this one dries out your lips…but to be honest, they are all starting to look the same to me. This one is my least favourite, your lips don’t look as smooth and I really had to rub the colour out of my cheeks”.

LANOLIPS TINTED BALM RHUBARB

I personally LOVE this Lanolips Tinted Balm. It’s not sticky and it has SPF 30. The colour is also amazing. It’s a little bit stickier than the rest of the lipsticks but it’s more moisturising than sticky.
