meet men offline

Another year, another new start and to kick it off we’re taking things offline. Instead of reviewing the latest dating app or website, we’ve come up with 7 ways to meet men offline this year. I love dating apps but I also think they’ve made us lazy daters (more on this later). Besides, there are a lot of really great guys who aren’t online and here’s where you could meet them.

Meet up groups

Unlike speed dating, meet up groups on based on shared interest and not just a shared interest to date. There are meet up groups about any topic – from board games to language exchange there’s a group for every hobby. Many people who sign up for meet up groups are looking to make new friends and likely to be single. Tip: If you do decide to try it, go for groups that are gender neutral i.e. not many straight men go to knitting or crochet groups.

Dance

I cannot recommend this enough, it’s great for your health, physique and it’s a fantastic way to make new friends. From what I’ve experienced, most people who come out to dance are likely to be single. I know many couples who’ve met through dancing. Pick a dance genre that requires a partner, they’re more social than solo dances  i.e. ballet or hip hop.

Tip: If you’re going to take up dance as a new hobby, be ware of who you choose to date. Dance scenes are small and you don’t want to be known as the newbie who dates everyone.

Your local pub when a big game is on

Nothing like draws men to a pub like a big game. The upside of going to the pub for a big game is the atmosphere, a good pub feed and the ratio of men to women. The downside going to a pub game is that it draws all men out – meaning there’s no way of knowing which are single. Make it easy for men to approach you, don’t go with a group of girlfriends – it can be very intimidating for people to approach you.

The dog park

Dog parks are a great way to meet someone if you have a furry friend. It’s a great social activity for your pup and a chance for you to mingle with other fur parents. You might need to have a few conversations at first to figure out if a guy is single but if you’re at a dog park, there’s a good chance you’ll keep bumping into each other.

Everyday places like the grocery store, the train, local cafes

Every day is a new chance to meet someone and yet most of us go through lives on auto pilot. Everybody needs to eat – look to your grocery store the next time you go shopping. Be open minded to store aisle chat. Best conversation starter is to ask someone for their recommendation. It’s rejection proof. If the guy turns out to be taken, you still end up with a good recommendation for yoghurt.

A lot of single women I speak to tell me about the man drought or how all the good men seem to be MIA but 80% of your ‘luck’ in love has everything to do with mindset. It’s the secret sauce to finding your one. Want to learn more about creating a mindset that attracts real love? Check out this mindset makeover programme.
