Everything You Need for The ‘No Makeup’ Make Up Look

Make Up He Won’t Know You Have On

Most guys I know say they prefer women to have no make up on but what they really mean is that they’d rather you wear minimal makeup so they don’t have to spend their weekends washing off foundation stains and mascara from their pillowcases/suit jacket/crisp white shirt. They don’t take note that your natural look can consist of so many little routines (primer, concealer, eye primer, blush, bronzer…) just to look natural. I love the minimal makeup look but if that’s what they’re calling it then it should be simple. Here is my tightly edited collection of nude makeup for a natural look that’s made a comeback to the runway for another season.

Arbonne Makeup Primer $38

I tend to sway towards skincare products that are free from harsh chemicals but when it comes to makeup, it’s rare to find products that  don’t contain the usual nasties and do the job. It’s why I love this primer. The matte formula glides on smoothly and it’s free from harsh chemicals like Parabens and Phthalates. For those who have not been acquainted with primers, they help your makeup stay on and this one does a beautiful job. Apply it a minute after you apply your day moisturiser.

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream $45 AUD

A moisturiser with SPF 30 and great coverage, this is one handy item to have in the daily routine. A little goes a long way and the coverage will last you through a day of work and a night of dancing. Tried and tested – this is the best CC Cream I’ve ever had. Special thanks to my colleague who got me hooked on it. I have olive tanned skin and use Light Medium.

MAC Bronzer in Refined Golden $39 AUD

I’ve been very fickle and yet time and time again, I always come back to MAC’s bronzer in Golden Glow. I’ve had an on and off relationship with it since I was 16. No other bronzer gives you that sun kissed healthy glow. My boss often tells me I glow but really, I think it’s the bronzer doing a good job. It has just a hint of shimmer when the light hits your face so you never look you’ve spent too much time contouring like the Kardashians.

MAC Lipstick in Kinda Sexy $36 AUD

A nude lip is hard to nail as everyone has a shade that brings out their best neutral pout. For me it’s MAC’s Kinda Sexy. I have pinkish lips and many of the common nudes are shades too light and make me look like a corpse on Halloween. This lippie has a hint of pink for a soft sultry hue. Also great with smokey eyes.

Revlon ColorStay One Stroke Defining Eyeline – Dark Brown (I purchased this in Asia and haven’t been able to find it in Australia)

Dark enough to make an impact but light enough to look ‘natural’, this smokey brown is the perfect shade to define the eyes. It’s staying power is unrivalled and the brown is universally flattering. You don’t need to be heavy handed with this one.
