Definition of a breakover: a complete reinvention of oneself and one’s image, achieved through treatment and improvement one’s physical appearance, as well as ending one’s relationship with a detrimental significant other.

This is inspired by one of my friends who, post recent breakup has been looking fabulous despite whatever emotions she may be harbouring on the inside. I don’t know any woman who has not cried over at least one break up. It’s not pretty. Your skin gets flaky and dry, your eyes are red, you probably have bags under your eyes from sleep deprivation… cheeks puffy – it’s hardly what one would call attractive but life really does go on without you so you’ll mine as well look good while trying to move on with grace. Leave the black smokey eye for another night because if you use a brown palette, you’ll look less panda-like if you can’t hold back your tears. It’s all you need to give your eyes a soft, natural pop of colour.

Two superstar sellers from the folks at Nars. Contour with Laguna and highlight cheeks with Orgasm. It’s guaranteed to brighten up your face.

4. Stila Waterproof Liquid Liner RRP $32.00

What every girl needs post breakup – anything waterproof. Unlike the gazillion liquid eyeliners I’ve tried, this one glides on easily and stays all day.

5. MaxFactor Lipfinity in Endlessly Mesmerising RRP $30.95

This nude lippie has a two step application to lock colour in for hours. Apply the colour and seal with a balm. It’s not sticky like a lipgloss. Moisturising and long-lasting…because when you’re busy pouring your heart out you won’t be bothered reapplying.

6. MaxFactor Excess Volume Mascara RRP $24.95

This eye opener has two ends – one for dramatic colour and the other for volume and length. I absolutely love this formula. It doesn’t smudge and it stays put all day. I find that with some mascaras, you have to ‘work them in’ but this one is great new. Cry at your own risk though, it’s not waterproof.
