She is amazing.

I know, the word amazing is used quite recklessly nowadays, but I honestly can’t think of any other word to describe my girlfriend. Oh wait, I can think of loving, supportive and wonderful.

I met my girlfriend at a time when I didn’t intend to end up in a relationship. In fact, I promised myself to stay away from anything too serious. I wanted to have fun and any form of commitment seemed like a prison sentence I wanted to avoid at all cost.

Then our first date changed everything. I was one hour late. She didn’t leave. For some explicable reason she waited for me and for an also inexplicable reason we both said “I love you” after less than two weeks.

Today, many months later, I honestly can’t think of a life without her. I don’t want to think of it. She is perfect for me and if I can believe her, she feels the same about me.

I promised myself to neve get married. I might keep that promise. But if I don’t, I know that she’ll be the one I break this promise for.

Let’s have a look at her 12 qualities that force my brain to consider the highest form of commitment that I promised myself to avoid all my life.

1. Her Support is Out of This World

I am difficult to be around. Yes, I admit it. I can be quite annoying from time to time. One day I feel like the king of the world and the next day I doubt my whole existence. I guess I don’t have a particularly stable personality.

She doesn’t care. She supports me when I am on top of the world and she is there for me when I am feeling like a fly on the fly flap. She motivates me, inspires me and makes sure that I keep on going. Her support is out of this world.

2. She Stays Calm When I Can’t

Sometimes I get angry. I have a website and when this website has some issues, I scream at my laptop. I go nuts. Right before I can punch my fist through my laptop, she shows up behind me, lays her hand on my shoulder and gives me a kiss on the cheek.

That’s all I need to calm down. I can’t even tell you from how many heart attacks she has saved me. Her calm nature is all I need in these situations. She’s like Buddha, just a lot more attractive.

3. She Always Asks Me If I Had Something to Eat

This mind sound weird to you, but it is actually something that I appreciate more than anything else.

“Have you had something to eat?”

She asks me this question every day. It’s a very simple question, but it shows me that she cares about me. She wants to make sure that I don’t skip lunch, which happens quite often when I am writing.

She really cares about me and believe it or not, such a simple question is all the proof I need.

4. Whenever She Sees Me She Can’t Stop Smiling

What does your girlfriend do when she sees you? Mine smiles like a happy child. She smiles whenever she sees me. It makes me happy to see that my presence makes her happy.

Oh, and she says that she still gets goosebumps when I come really close and whisper something in her ear. These are the moments when she smiles even more. I think it’s a good sign when your girlfriend smiles whenever she sees you. Smiling is way better than crying.

5. She Believes in Me With All Her Heart

I have the vision to turn my passion for dating and writing into a career. I failed at it once and now I try it again. I won’t give up, but there are days when I feel like giving up. And even when I stop believing in myself, she continues to believe in me.

She always says that she loves my determination and my not giving up mentality. I think it is not part of her reality that I could ever give up. That’s what keeps me going. I will do everything in my power to give her the chance to say the following lines:

“You see, I knew that you were going to make it.”

6. She Doesn’t Care About Material Possessions

I am a minimalist. I don’t care about expensive brands and the consumerist mentality that has infected the Western culture. I truly believe that life is so much easier if you don’t try to keep up with the Joneses and if you stop buying stuff you don’t need with money you don’t have to impress people you don’t like.

My girlfriend thinks the same. She doesn’t care about material possessions. I once tested her by telling her that I will buy a Porsche if I’ll ever become successful. She just looked at me and said that I can drive alone with that damn thing.

I loved her even more after she said that.

7. Whenever She Talks About the Future She Talks About Us

She doesn’t talk about her house. She talks about our house. She doesn’t talk about her vision, she talks about our vision. Her future is my future and it is truly a gift that we see the same picture when we look into the future.

One reason why so many couples break up is because of different ideas of the future. The fact that we can easily visualize a future together makes it possible for us to have a truly fulfilling relationship.

8. She Listens to My Crazy Plans (and Enjoys it)

When you would ask one of my friends about me, they would tell you that I am a very quiet person. When you would ask my girlfriend the same question, she would tell you that I talk all day long. I usually don’t like to talk, but when I am around my girlfriend, I really enjoy it.

I like to share my ideas with her, to tell her about my weird plans and I even enjoy talking about my fears and doubts. She listens to every word I say and she told me numerous times that she really enjoys it.

Either she is crazy, or she is really in love with me.

9. She Respects People More than I Do

Did I already tell you that she is an awesome human being? I think I did. But did I also tell you that she respects people more than I do? She is a really respectful person. That’s something that I still have to work on.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not a bad person. Sometimes I am just a bit arrogant and presumptuous. I remember one incident when I made fun of someone and she told me that this was disrespectful. She was right and I admire her honesty for telling me.

10. She is a Nerd at Heart

I don’t drink, I absolutely hate clubs and my perfect day consists of two hours of reading and eight hours of writing. I know that I am different and that it’s not easy to find a woman for whom this kind of “action” is enough.

I found her and I am very happy that I did. My girlfriend is a nerd at heart. While other girls need to go out every night, she reads books by Stephen Hawking.

She always says that I am mean when I call her my “nerdy girl”, but deep down she knows that I love her so much for being the wonderful person she is.

11. I Love How Much She Loves Me

I can confidently say that I have never loved someone as much as I love her. But what I love even more is the fact that she feels the same for me. She loves me with all her heart. She told me a million times and sometimes the feelings overwhelm her so much that she can’t even say it.

Isn’t being loved and knowing that you are a lovable human being one of the highest achievements of all? I think it is and I love how much she loves me. It gives me all the security and safety that I need to follow my purpose.

12. 5000 Miles Can’t Separate Us

I think I forgot to mention one interesting fact about our relationship. We are living 5000 miles apart from each other. You probably think that this is an obstacle, but we see it as a chance to grow together.

Nobody believed in the relationship, nobody but us. And now, dozens of month after the first “I love you”, we plan to move together. I know that it will be beautiful. She told me a hundred times how beautiful it will be and I believe her.

5000 miles can’t separate us and if we stay on course, the next 50 years can’t do it either.
